Tuition

Over the last 37 years and over 10,000 visitors, every aspect of the studio has been crafted and tailored by its students.

Many facilities at the studio have been the template that other studios have tried to emulate but have never equalled.

With real state of the art equipment we are able to provide a high quality learning environment for students as well as superb facilities for parents to wait in either our reception area or in outside undercover courtyard.

With a very high success rate in RGT exam passes, we have had the pleasure of watching many students go on to professional musical careers such as teaching. Our students not only improve in their practical playing, but also in areas such as musical theory, their musical ear and even writing capabilities if they wish.

Our teaching is thorough, whilst maintaining a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Many students get together away from the studio in the groups they have been learning in, thus many bands have been formed in this way over the years.

Day Lessons

£23.00

9am - 4pm

Day lessons: these are primarily aimed at students who have, or require flexibility in their schedule I.e. shift workers etc.

These are 1 to 1 tuition due to appointments having to move days and times. Some students also find this arrangement useful for short term , specific subject tuition.

The course material is identical in both evening and day tuition , the course custom designed by Michael Clarke for maximum results with minimum workload that we have used for nearly 40 years.

One thing that comes up is the subject of 1 to 1 versus group tuition? We have had situations where a day student has had to have 1 or 2 lessons in the groups at night and invariably the comments that come back are:

"I need to move to evening lessons, I have really enjoyed the interaction with other players",
and "I thought by having 1 to 1 tuition that progress would be quicker because I was on my own but the way the lessons are structured there was no difference".

Why do we teach in small groups?

1) ALL our students are very supportive of each other and love the atmosphere in the studio when they are together. This has been the case since we opened , nearly 40 years ago.

2) Many get together socially away from the studio , something we love to hear about and encourage

3) In a lot of cases lessons are the only time they get to play with other players, and get a feeling for what it's like to play as part of a group/band. Good preparation for when joining a band.

4) Students are VERY closely matched so there is no competition or feeling uncomfortable with students of a different standard of playing.

5) We feel that music is very therapeutic mentally, something we are huge advocates of, we are a community so if you suffer in any way with low self esteem , depression or anxiety , give us a try , guarantee you will feel right at home by the end of your first free lesson.
